The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has introduced six new feeder buses to improve connectivity between Electronics City Wipro Gate and Tin Factory, according to an official announcement on July 8, 2026. The new service aims to ease commuting for thousands of IT professionals and residents in the area.
Service Timings and Route Details
The first bus from Electronics City Wipro Gate will depart at 5:30 am, while the last service will leave at 9:10 pm. The buses will operate on a dedicated route covering key stops along the way, providing a direct link to Tin Factory, a major junction for further connections to other parts of the city.
BMTC officials stated that the frequency of the buses will be adjusted based on demand, with additional trips during peak hours. The feeder service is expected to reduce reliance on private vehicles and ease congestion on the busy Electronics City corridor.
Impact on Commuters
The new feeder buses are part of BMTC's ongoing efforts to enhance last-mile connectivity in Bengaluru's tech hubs. Electronics City, home to numerous multinational companies, sees heavy daily traffic, and the new service is designed to provide a reliable alternative for employees.
According to BMTC, the initiative is expected to benefit over 10,000 daily commuters, cutting travel time by up to 20 minutes compared to existing options. The buses will also integrate with metro and other BMTC services at Tin Factory, offering seamless transfers.
Future Plans
BMTC has indicated that more feeder routes may be introduced based on passenger feedback and ridership data. The corporation is also exploring the use of electric buses for similar routes to promote sustainable transport.
