CBI arrests two GST officials in Giridih bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested a superintendent and an inspector of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) department from Giridih in a bribery case. The accused have been identified as Superintendent Budheshwar Sundi and Inspector Virju Kimar.

Allegations of Bribery

According to the CBI, the duo demanded an undue advantage of Rs 90,000 from a complainant for resolving his input tax credit mismatch. They allegedly threatened to block the complainant's GST number if the bribe amount was not paid.

Trap and Arrest

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe as part payment from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused persons, the CBI said in a statement.

Further investigation is underway to uncover any other instances of corruption involving the arrested officials.
