Dumka: Three men were arrested for alleged trafficking of narcotics in separate raids conducted in Deoghar and Sahibganj districts, police confirmed on Tuesday.
Arrest in Deoghar
In Deoghar district, officers from the Jasidih police station apprehended a 22-year-old man, Chotu Kumar, a resident of Sabour in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. He was arrested for allegedly selling brown sugar near the Manokamna Sai Temple in Sai Vikas Nagar on the Banka main road. Police seized 12.02 grams of brown sugar from his possession.
Details of the Operation
The arrest was made following a tip-off. The accused was found in possession of the contraband and was immediately taken into custody. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the narcotics.
Operation in Sahibganj
In a separate operation in Sahibganj district, officers from the Rajmahal police station raided Phulwaria Patal Bagiya and seized 13.7 grams of MDMA. Two individuals, Fakruddin Sheikh, 29, and Salman Sheikh, were arrested in connection with the seizure.
SDPO Vimlesh Kumar Tripathi stated that the raid was carried out based on a tip-off provided by SP Amit Kumar Singh. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police are now investigating whether the arrested individuals are part of a larger drug trafficking network operating in the region. Both districts have seen increased vigilance against drug peddling in recent months.
