ACB Finds ₹1.5 Crore in Official's Lockers

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday opened two bank lockers belonging to Sunkari Narahari, deputy director of survey and land records (multi zone-II), and recovered ₹1.5 crore in alleged unaccounted cash, along with significant quantities of gold. This development comes five days after Narahari was booked in a disproportionate assets case.

Assets Valued at Over ₹30 Crore

Searches conducted at multiple properties on Tuesday had already led ACB officials to estimate Narahari’s assets at around ₹13 crore, with market values believed to exceed ₹30 crore. The latest discovery of cash and valuables from the lockers adds to the growing list of assets under scrutiny.

Lockers Opened After Court Warrant

On Tuesday, Narahari’s family members claimed they did not possess the keys to the bank lockers. The ACB subsequently obtained search warrants from the ACB court, and with the assistance of bank authorities, the lockers were opened on Saturday.

According to the ACB, the lockers contained ₹1.5 crore in cash, 12 gold biscuits each weighing 100 grams (totaling 1.2 kg), and nearly two kilograms of gold and diamond ornaments.

Background and Investigation

Narahari had worked for a long period in the real estate sector in Ranga Reddy district. He is currently in judicial remand. ACB officials are in the process of seeking his custody to further investigate the source of the wealth, uncover additional assets, and determine how he allegedly amassed disproportionate wealth.
