DES Pune University is intensifying its focus on career readiness through a structured combination of academic rigor and industry-aligned training, aiming to equip students with the skills needed for professional roles. The university's Career Services Department is central to this effort, providing workshops, certifications, and real-world exposure.
National Recognition in Times B-School Rankings 2026
The university's emphasis on quality education and employability has earned national recognition. In the Times B-School Rankings 2026, published by The Times of India on January 30, the School of Business and Management ranked 6th among Top Emerging B-Schools, while the School of Engineering and Technology secured 9th among Top Emerging Engineering Institutes.
Holistic Approach to Student Development
Dr. Manju Punia Chopra, Head of the School of Business and Management, stated, "Meaningful education remains the cornerstone of leadership." Citing the Sanskrit maxim 'na hi jnanena sadrsam pavitramiha vidyate' (Nothing is as pure as knowledge), she emphasized the university's commitment to nurturing future-ready leaders. Dr. Prachi Joshi highlighted the institution's focus on academic excellence, innovation, and industry relevance in preparing engineering graduates.
The university adopts a holistic approach combining technical training with soft skills, aptitude building, and real-world exposure. Recent initiatives include workshops on professional ethics, the BharatCares Future Skills Orientation offering certifications in Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence (supported by Honeywell under CSR), and grooming sessions on CV writing, interview techniques, and professional conduct. Psychology students attended a workshop on the Rorschach Ink Blot Test led by clinical psychologist Dr. Uma Dalvi.
Industry Partnerships and Events
Students also benefited from a session by former IAS officer Shri Avinash Dharmadhikari, founder of Chanakya Mandal Pariwar, who spoke on discipline, mindset, and purpose in careers. The university has partnerships with IBM, Edunet Foundation, Microsoft Elevate, GTTF, and Satkaam Foundation, with discussions underway with Adobe, KPMG, Honeywell, and Mitsubishi to expand internship, certification, and placement opportunities.
The jnanapatheya 2.0 HR Conclave 2026 brought together over 100 senior HR professionals, fostering dialogue between academia and industry.
Placement Outcomes and Future Plans
Early outcomes show positive trends: for the 2024-26 batch, the School of Science and Mathematics reported 63% paid internships, and the School of Business and Management recorded 59%. With more than 150 companies registered for placements, the university aims to strengthen placement outcomes, explore global opportunities, and build a robust ecosystem for career development and entrepreneurship.
