Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), Mumbai's largest city gas distributor, has appointed Praveer Kumar Srivastava as its new Managing Director. Srivastava brings over three decades of experience from GAIL (India) Limited, where he held key leadership roles in operations, maintenance, and project execution.
Extensive Experience in Energy Sector
During his tenure at GAIL, Srivastava was instrumental in commissioning India's first Hydrogen Blending Pilot Project and one of the country's largest green hydrogen (PEM) production plants at Vijaipur. He also served as Executive Director, overseeing the pipeline network connecting major LNG terminals at Dahej and Dabhol to industrial consumers across western India.
Role at MGL
MGL serves over 32 lakh households and 12.5 lakh vehicles across Maharashtra and Karnataka. Srivastava is expected to drive growth, innovation, and sustainability. He stated, "My focus will be on improving efficiency, accelerating project delivery, leveraging technology and digitisation, building strong teams, and ensuring robust financial performance."
Industry Background
Srivastava's career spans handling operations and maintenance of gas processing units and pipeline networks, along with execution of large-scale projects across key GAIL installations. His appointment marks a strategic move to enhance MGL's operational excellence and expand its renewable energy initiatives.
