Bridgestone India has revealed a significant leadership transition, announcing Rajarshi Moitra as its next Managing Director. This strategic appointment becomes effective from January 1, 2026, marking a new chapter for the tire manufacturing giant's Indian operations.
Leadership Handover Details
Moitra, who currently holds the position of Deputy Managing Director, will take over the reins from Hiroshi Yoshizane, who has been steering the company's India operations since January 2024. Yoshizane's departure from the Indian leadership role coincides with his promotion to a more significant global position within the Bridgestone Corporation.
From the same date, Yoshizane will assume the role of Vice President and Senior Officer of Bridgestone Corporation, indicating the company's confidence in his leadership capabilities and the successful tenure he completed in India.
Moitra's Journey and Vision
In his statement following the announcement, Moitra expressed enthusiasm about his upcoming role. "I look forward to working closely with customers, OEM partners, and communities to support the company's ongoing growth," he stated, highlighting his collaborative approach to leadership.
Moitra brings to the table an impressive over two decades of experience spanning various critical business functions. His expertise covers business strategy, sales, marketing, and large-scale transformation initiatives, making him well-equipped to lead the company through its next growth phase.
Since joining Bridgestone India in 2019, Moitra has progressively taken on more significant responsibilities. His career trajectory within the organization includes leading both consumer and commercial businesses, overseeing the solutions division, and managing supply chain operations. His rapid ascent continued with his elevation to Executive Director – Sales & Marketing in 2024, followed by his appointment as Deputy Managing Director in May 2025.
Yoshizane's Legacy and Future Direction
Outgoing Managing Director Hiroshi Yoshizane reflected positively on his tenure, emphasizing the substantial progress made under his leadership. He specifically highlighted improvements in several key areas including operations, safety, quality, and sustainability during his time at the helm.
Yoshizane expressed confidence in the foundation laid for Bridgestone India's future, noting that "the groundwork laid in areas like R&D and social contribution will continue to shape Bridgestone India's future as Moitra takes charge."
The leadership transition aligns with Bridgestone India's accelerated shift toward becoming a sustainable solutions company. This strategic direction is closely aligned with the global Bridgestone E8 Commitment framework, which revolves around eight core values designed to create long-term social and customer value.
The company clarified that this renewed management structure will support its broader vision for 2050, strengthening sustainability efforts while simultaneously driving the next phase of growth in the competitive Indian market. This carefully planned transition ensures continuity in leadership while bringing fresh perspective to the company's ambitious goals.
