HPTDC Launches Membership Cards to Boost Tourism and Occupancy
HPTDC Launches Membership Cards for Higher Occupancy

Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) on Saturday launched three exclusive membership cards—platinum, gold, and silver—aimed at increasing occupancy in its government-run hotels and boosting tourism across the state. The announcement was made by HPTDC Chairman RS Bali during a press conference in Dharamsala.

Membership Cards and Benefits

The platinum card, priced at Rs 99,999, is valid for three years and offers a 50% discount on room tariffs, 20% on food bills, and 10% on beverages. The gold card, costing Rs 75,000, provides the same benefits for two years, while the silver card, available for Rs 50,000, is valid for one year. Cardholders can avail discounts across nearly 60 HPTDC properties, including major tourist destinations and remote areas. Each cardholder can book up to two rooms at a time.

Bali described the initiative as an innovative step to make tourism more accessible while strengthening the corporation's financial position. “The tourism sector must continuously innovate. These cards are designed to provide value to tourists while encouraging them to explore Himachal Pradesh through HPTDC properties,” he said.

Digital Expansion and Financial Performance

Bali also unveiled a revamped tourism website featuring improved user experience, district-wise hotel listings, tourism circuits, and enhanced search capabilities. The platform allows tourists to easily access information and make bookings across HPTDC’s network. Additionally, HPTDC has integrated its hotels with major online travel platforms such as MakeMyTrip, with plans to expand partnerships with other travel websites. Bali highlighted that HPTDC secured an advance payment of Rs 2 crore from MakeMyTrip, which he claimed was a first-of-its-kind agreement for a state tourism corporation in India.

Regarding financial performance, Bali noted that HPTDC’s annual turnover rose from approximately Rs 78 crore to around Rs 110 crore within a year of his tenure and has consistently remained above Rs 100 crore since. The corporation has cleared liabilities worth over Rs 50 crore from its own resources while undertaking renovation and service improvements at several properties.
