Bhopal Gas Agencies Go Silent as Commercial Cylinder Supply Halts

Gas agency owners and staff in Bhopal have resorted to putting their mobile phones on busy mode or ignoring calls entirely, as their phones have been ringing non-stop since Monday afternoon. The overwhelming volume of inquiries stems from a sudden and complete stoppage in the supply of 19 Kg commercial LPG cylinders by oil companies, which began earlier this week.

Frustration Mounts Among Agency Managers

"What do I tell them? The oil companies have completely stopped supply of 19 Kg commercial gas cylinders since Monday," expressed a visibly frustrated manager at a gas agency located in Shivaji Nagar. "Since they get the cylinders easily, maybe by paying some extra bucks to the vendors, they hope that sooner or later they will get the cylinder but it can only happen when we have the cylinders." This sentiment highlights the helplessness felt by distributors who are caught between supplier directives and desperate customer demands.

Hotels and Restaurants Face Operational Crisis

Despite roadside vendors, eateries, hotels, and restaurants continuing to operate as usual, underlying anxieties about LPG cylinder supply are surfacing rapidly. The owner of the 6 No Stop Market Hotel shared his predicament: "I used to take 2 to 3 blue gas cylinders daily but on Monday, my gas agency told me that it won't be able to supply cylinders at the hotel anymore. Today, the manager is not picking up his mobile at all. I hope he replies by evening and gets me some cylinders as I can only do with the remaining stock of cylinders till today." This scenario underscores the immediate threat to business continuity for many food service establishments.

Small Businesses Grapple with Uncertainty

Nitesh Vijayvergiya, who operates a small restaurant in Lakherapura, echoed similar concerns. "Vendors from my gas agency used to come on their own daily to supply cylinders but for the last two days, they are not even picking up the mobile and my problem is that we only have a few cylinders in stock," he stated. The breakdown in communication and supply chain has left small business owners like Vijayvergiya in a precarious position, unsure of how to sustain operations without reliable LPG access.

The abrupt cessation of commercial cylinder deliveries has not only disrupted daily business activities but also exposed vulnerabilities in the local supply network. As agencies remain unresponsive, the hospitality sector in Bhopal is bracing for potential shortages that could impact service quality and customer satisfaction. The situation calls for urgent clarification from oil companies regarding the duration and reasons behind this supply halt.
