Bihar Inaugurates Groundbreaking National Horticulture Conclave

The historic city of Patna witnessed the inauguration of a pioneering three-day national-level horticulture event, the "Bihar Nursery and Green-Tech Conclave 2026," on Saturday at Gyan Bhavan. This first-of-its-kind gathering, organized by the horticulture directorate of the state's agriculture department, represents a significant milestone in Bihar's agricultural evolution.

Technology-Driven Agricultural Transformation

Operating under the theme "Parampara Se Pragati Tak" (From Tradition to Progress), the conclave aims to revolutionize the horticulture sector through cutting-edge technology integration. The event serves as a strategic platform to bridge traditional farming practices with modern agricultural innovations, creating a comprehensive roadmap for sectoral advancement.

"With the strategic expansion of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries, residents are increasingly finding sustainable employment opportunities within their own villages, reducing migration pressures," Kumar added.

Government Commitment to Agricultural Modernization

State Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav reinforced the government's dedication to agricultural advancement. "Bihar is making rapid strides in nursery development and green technology adoption," Yadav declared. He noted the substantial increase in machinery and modern technology utilization within the agricultural sector.

According to the minister, "Farmers are now generating substantial income through horticulture while securing better employment prospects within their local communities. Innovation in both agriculture and horticulture is flourishing, creating numerous new employment avenues that both farmers and youth should actively pursue."

Expert Insights on Agricultural Evolution

Bihar State Farmers Commission Chairman Rupnarayan Mehta provided historical context, stating, "Bihar has always been an agrarian state where traditional farming dominated for generations. However, in the contemporary era, both agriculture and horticulture are advancing at an unprecedented pace, largely driven by technological support and innovative approaches."

Unprecedented Coordination and Collaboration

Agriculture Department Principal Secretary Narmdeshwar Lal emphasized the event's unique nature. "This marks the first occasion such a comprehensive horticulture conclave has been organized in Bihar," Lal explained. "The program is specifically designed to foster coordination among agriculture, horticulture, and technology sectors, effectively connecting farmers with modern horticultural techniques and best practices."
