Uttar Pradesh is set to establish India's first integrated basmati organic training-cum-demo farm in Pilibhit. This initiative aims to promote organic farming practices and provide hands-on training to farmers, thereby enhancing the production of high-quality organic basmati rice.
Key Features of the Farm
The farm will serve as a demonstration center for organic cultivation techniques, including soil management, pest control, and water conservation. It will also offer training programs to farmers, helping them transition from conventional to organic farming. The facility is expected to benefit thousands of farmers in the region, improving their livelihoods and contributing to sustainable agriculture.
Government Support and Objectives
The project is part of the central government's efforts to boost organic farming and increase exports of organic basmati rice. Pilibhit was chosen due to its favorable agro-climatic conditions and existing basmati cultivation. The farm will also focus on certification processes and market linkages to ensure farmers get fair prices for their organic produce.
This development aligns with the broader goal of doubling farmers' income and promoting eco-friendly farming practices. The integrated farm is expected to become a model for other states to replicate.
