A significant fire erupted late on Sunday night, causing extensive damage to a cotton ginning factory in Barwani district. The incident, which started around midnight, led to the destruction of hundreds of cotton bales stored in the facility's godown.
Panic and Response at the Factory Premises
People present at the Chandrahas Agrohub Private Limited ginning mill in Anjad town first noticed flames and thick smoke billowing from the storage area. The sight triggered immediate panic on-site. Authorities were swiftly alerted, and the Nagar Parishad's fire tender initiated firefighting operations using available resources.
To bolster the efforts, additional fire tenders from the Barwani Municipality rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, personnel from the Anjad police station were deployed to manage the scene and maintain law and order around the factory premises.
A Prolonged Battle Against the Flames
The fire proved difficult to control due to the highly combustible nature of the stored cotton. Flames continued to rise from the stacked bales throughout the night. In a strategic move, earth-moving machines were employed to remove and shift the burning bales to safer locations. This was crucial to prevent the fire from spreading further and causing even more devastation.
The blaze, which began late on Sunday night, continued to burn in pockets until approximately 9 a.m. on Monday. It was a long and challenging operation for the firefighting teams.
Fire Finally Brought Under Control
Anjad Police Station in-charge RR Chauhan informed that the fire was ultimately brought under control on Monday morning. Success was achieved through a combined effort utilizing the factory's internal fire safety system alongside the fire tenders from both Barwani and Anjad.
However, the full extent of the financial loss remains unclear. Police officials stated that the owner of Chandrahas Agrohub Private Limited has not yet submitted a formal report regarding the incident. Therefore, an exact assessment of the damages is still awaited as investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
