Odisha Greenlights Major Industrial Push with 23 Projects Worth Rs 4,112 Crore

In a significant move to bolster industrial growth and employment, the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) of Odisha has approved 23 industrial projects with a total investment of Rs 4,111.80 crore. These projects are projected to create 9,924 jobs across the state, marking a substantial step toward job-led economic development.

Diversified Industrial Strategy Across Multiple Sectors

The approved projects span a wide array of sectors, reflecting Odisha's commitment to a diversified and resilient industrial base. Key sectors include mechanical and electrical capital goods, apparel and textiles, aerospace and defence manufacturing, shipbuilding and repair, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, refractories, aluminium downstream, mineral beneficiation, metal downstream, plastics, glass manufacturing, logistics and warehousing, infrastructure, and tourism. This broad spectrum ensures balanced economic growth and reduces dependency on any single industry.

Geographical Distribution for Balanced Regional Development

The investments will be distributed across 11 districts to promote regionally balanced development. The districts benefiting from these projects are Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Deogarh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Khurda, Koraput, Puri, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh. This strategic spread aims to uplift various regions of Odisha, ensuring that industrial benefits reach beyond urban centers.

Highlighted Major Projects and Their Impact

Advanced Manufacturing and Infrastructure: Among the notable approvals, Nipha Ltd will establish a railway component manufacturing unit in Khurda with an investment of Rs 384 crore, creating 310 jobs. In the advanced manufacturing sector, Inventgrid India Pvt Ltd will set up an advanced multi-drone manufacturing centre in Ganjam for Rs 300 crore, which is expected to generate 1,000 jobs. For maritime development, Northern Express Infra Developers Pvt Ltd will develop a shipbuilding and ship repair facility in Bhadrak at an investment of Rs 339.40 crore, with the potential to create 507 jobs.

Tourism and Hospitality Boost: The tourism sector will see significant enhancement with the approval of two 5-star hotel projects in Puri (Rs 200 crore) and Khurda (Rs 210 crore), along with two 4-star hotel projects in Puri (Rs 70 crore) and Sambalpur (Rs 64 crore). These investments are poised to improve tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors to the state.

Apparel and Textiles Expansion: In the apparel and textiles sector, JG Hosiery Pvt Ltd will establish a large garment unit in Khurda with an investment of Rs 100 crore, creating 2,350 jobs. This project is expected to significantly boost employment in the region and strengthen Odisha's position in the textile industry.

Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals Investments: The pharmaceuticals and chemicals sector will benefit from investments by Alventa Pharma Ltd and Blue Mount Energy Pvt Ltd, each investing Rs 100 crore in Khurda and Cuttack, respectively. These projects are projected to generate 250 and 100 jobs, contributing to the healthcare and chemical manufacturing landscape.

Additional Projects in Key Industrial Areas

Several other projects were approved in sectors such as refractories, aluminium downstream, mineral beneficiation, and metal processing. These will be located in districts including Sundargarh, Jajpur, Koraput, and Deogarh, further diversifying the industrial base and supporting local economies.

The SLSWCA meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, underscores the state government's proactive approach to streamlining industrial approvals and fostering a conducive business environment. This initiative is part of Odisha's broader strategy to accelerate economic growth through industrial diversification and job creation, positioning the state as a key player in India's industrial landscape.
