Patna Jewellers Unveil Festive Discounts to Capture Akshaya Tritiya Demand
In anticipation of the auspicious festival of Akshaya Tritiya this Sunday, jewellers across Patna have launched a series of discounts and special promotions to attract buyers. Many customers are proactively placing advance orders for gold and silver ornaments to circumvent the expected last-minute rush, ensuring they secure their purchases ahead of the festive day.
High Gold Prices Fail to Deter Buying Sentiment
Local traders report that despite gold prices reaching record highs, the purchasing enthusiasm remains undiminished. Gold continues to be perceived not only as a traditional acquisition but also as a reliable safe-haven investment. This dual appeal is fueling sustained demand, with buyers undeterred by the elevated costs.
Auspicious Festival Drives Cultural and Economic Activity
Akshaya Tritiya, dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, is celebrated on the third lunar day of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Vaishakha. It is widely regarded as an extremely propitious occasion for acquiring gold and other precious metals, with the belief that such purchases usher in prosperity and enduring good fortune.
Advance Bookings and Increased Footfall
Binod Kumar, President of the Pataliputra Sarafa Sangh, observed that customer footfall has been steadily increasing over recent days, particularly during evening hours. "Many buyers, anticipating heavy crowds on the festival day, have opted for advance bookings of jewellery and coins to avoid delays," he explained.
Shifting Preferences Towards Modern Designs
Even with firm gold prices, demand remains robust, especially for lightweight and contemporary jewellery pieces. Umesh Tekriwal, manager of a branded jewellery store on Fraser Road, noted that younger consumers are increasingly favoring rose gold and diamond-studded items. "Gold coins are also popular among those seeking smaller investment avenues, while personalised and custom-designed jewellery is gaining significant traction," he added.
Strong Demand Across Jewellery Categories
Jewellers have reported vigorous demand for a diverse range of products, including:
- Gold coins and bars
- Lightweight necklaces and chains
- Bracelets and bangles
- Diamond rings and earrings
- Bridal jewellery collections
This surge is partly propelled by the ongoing wedding season, which complements the festive fervor.
Substantial Discounts on Making Charges
Pranay Kumar Majumdar, manager of a jewellery shop on Fraser Road, highlighted that bracelets, bangles, earrings, and rings are selling briskly. "Customers are predominantly choosing modern, lightweight jewellery. We are offering up to 100% discount on making charges for diamond jewellery and discounts of up to Rs 20,000 on gold jewellery," he stated.
Rising Demand for Diamond Jewellery
Anuj Kumar, manager of a jewellery store at Hathuwa Market, pointed out an increasing demand for 18-carat and 14-carat diamond jewellery, primarily driven by wedding-related purchases. He projected that sales during this Akshaya Tritiya are expected to rise by 10% to 15% compared to the previous year, fueled by a combination of investment motives and deep-rooted cultural beliefs.
The festive season in Patna is thus witnessing a vibrant blend of tradition and modernity, with jewellers capitalizing on the occasion through strategic discounts and tailored offerings to meet evolving consumer preferences.
