Skoda Kushaq Facelift Set for India Launch on March 21, 2026
Skoda Auto India is poised to unveil the highly anticipated Skoda Kushaq facelift SUV in the Indian market tomorrow, March 21, 2026. This launch marks a significant update for the popular model, which first debuted in 2021. Pre-bookings for the new SUV have already commenced, allowing interested customers to secure their vehicle through online platforms or by visiting their nearest dealership.
Engine and Gearbox Specifications
Mechanically, the Kushaq facelift retains its familiar powertrain options with no major changes. It continues to offer two engine choices: a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that delivers 115 horsepower and 175 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.
Gearbox configurations have been updated for enhanced performance. The 1.5-litre engine is paired exclusively with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. For the smaller 1.0-litre engine, buyers can opt for a 6-speed manual gearbox or a new 8-speed torque converter automatic, which replaces the previous 6-speed unit.
Variants and Expected Pricing
The new Kushaq is available in five distinct variants: Classic Plus, Signature, Sportline, Prestige, and Monte Carlo. This represents the first facelift for the model since its initial introduction. Prices are anticipated to start from approximately Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it competitively in the segment.
Exterior Design Updates
While the overall silhouette of the SUV remains unchanged, the facelift introduces comprehensive redesigns at the front and rear. The front end now features a redesigned grille with elegant chrome accents, slimmer headlamps, and a new LED daytime running light signature that extends across the grille for a modern look.
The lower section incorporates a fresh skid plate, and the bumper adopts a honeycomb-style design for added aggression. Side profile changes are subtle, limited to newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and thicker black cladding that enhances the SUV's road presence.
At the rear, the Kushaq gets a redesigned tailgate with new connecting LED taillights and glowing 'SKODA' lettering. Additional exterior highlights include a shark fin antenna, silver skid plate, rear wiper with washer, roof rails, and an integrated spoiler.
Interior, Features, and Safety
Inside, the cabin maintains its familiar layout with minor refinements. It continues to feature a capacitive climate control panel, two-spoke steering wheel, and intuitive control panels. The feature list has been significantly enhanced with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complemented by a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.
Other premium amenities include a six-speaker Skoda sound system with subwoofer and amplifier, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, leatherette seats, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, and an AI companion powered by Google. A segment-first rear massager adds to the comfort quotient.
Safety remains a top priority with six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, all-wheel disc brakes, rain-sensing wipers, defogger, and auto-dimming IRVM. The Kushaq has earned a five-star safety rating from Global NCAP for both adult and child occupants.
Warranty and Market Competition
Skoda is offering an attractive warranty package that includes an extended warranty of up to six years, six years of corrosion warranty, and three years for the paint. Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of this month, ensuring quick turnaround for early buyers.
The SUV continues to compete in the fiercely contested compact SUV segment, going head-to-head with rivals such as the Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris.
