Vikramotsav Auto Stall Allocation Nears Completion, Boosted by Major Tax Incentive
The allocation of stalls to automobile dealers for the annual Vikramotsav trade fair in Ujjain is rapidly approaching its final stages, with the process largely driven by optimistic sales projections. This surge in interest follows the announcement of a significant 50 percent exemption on lifetime motor vehicle tax for non-commercial vehicles, a move that has energized both dealers and potential buyers ahead of the event's commencement on February 15.
Robust Booking and Strategic Layout for 2025 Fair
According to official authorities, over 90 percent of the designated automobile stalls have already been successfully booked, indicating a highly positive response from the automotive sector. The layout for this year's Vikramotsav, which will run until March 19, has been meticulously planned to accommodate this heightened demand.
The fair will feature a dedicated cluster consisting of 163 stalls specifically allocated for the automobile segment. This cluster is further subdivided into 123 spaces reserved for four-wheelers and 40 spaces for two-wheelers. Additionally, the event will include 60 stalls designated for food vendors and general trade, ensuring a comprehensive and diverse commercial experience for all attendees.
Tax Exemption Acts as Primary Catalyst for Participation
The 50 percent exemption on the lifetime motor vehicle tax, applicable exclusively to vehicles registered at the Ujjain Regional Transport Office (RTO) during the fair period, has been identified as the key driver behind the strong dealer turnout and anticipated consumer interest.
"Almost all automobile stalls have been allotted, which clearly reflects the strong sentiment among dealers. The 50 percent RTO tax exemption is the primary catalyst drawing both dealer participation and anticipated buyer interest to the Vikramotsav this year," stated Abhilash Mishra, the Municipal Commissioner of Ujjain.
Expectations for Record Sales and Economic Impact
Buoyed by the attractive tax incentive, auto dealers and fair authorities are projecting substantially higher vehicle sales for the 2025 edition of the Vikramotsav. In anticipation of increased demand, dealers are actively building their inventories to ensure adequate stock availability throughout the event.
Historical data from the transport department underscores the fair's significant commercial impact. During last year's fair period, more than 36,000 vehicles were sold and registered at the Ujjain RTO. This total included approximately 28,000 cars, with the remainder comprising two-wheelers and light commercial vehicles.
The economic contribution of the fair is substantial. Authorities confirmed that the 40-day Vikramotsav in 2025 generated revenue close to Rs 186 crore, highlighting the event's growing importance as a major driver for trade, tourism, and overall local economic activity in the Ujjain region.
The combination of strategic stall allocation, a powerful tax exemption policy, and strong historical sales performance sets the stage for what is expected to be a highly successful and economically vibrant Vikramotsav trade fair this year.
