A tragic incident occurred on Friday morning at a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Veliminedu village of Nalgonda district, where a reactor blast claimed the life of a 32-year-old worker and left seven others injured.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the explosion took place at approximately 11:30 am at Nosch Lab, with nine workers present at the time. The blast was triggered by a sudden pressure buildup inside a stainless steel manufacturing reactor, as per preliminary investigations.

Emergency response teams, including fire personnel, arrived swiftly at the scene and managed to bring the situation under control. Authorities have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and to verify whether safety protocols were adhered to at the facility.

Casualties and Injuries

The deceased, identified as Balakrishna, 32, a native of Nalgonda, succumbed to his injuries. An officer from Narketpally police station stated, "He had no burn injuries and is believed to have died after jumping from the second floor to the ground floor during the incident. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following a post-mortem examination."

All eight injured workers were initially rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Among them, two have since been discharged, while five continue to receive medical care for burns covering between 20% and 45% of their bodies. One of the injured workers hails from Odisha, while the remaining are from various districts of Telangana.

The local authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the matter to prevent such tragedies in the future and to ensure compliance with safety regulations in industrial establishments.
