UPSDM Allocates Sector-Wise Targets to Training Providers for Youth Skill Development

The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has taken a decisive step to enhance skill development across the state by allocating sector-wise targets to training providers. This initiative is designed to implement comprehensive skill development programs that provide industry-oriented, employment-focused training to the youth of Uttar Pradesh.

Strict Compliance and Quality Standards Mandated

According to official directives from UPSDM, training providers must strictly adhere to prescribed conditions and quality standards while working to achieve their assigned targets. This framework is being viewed as a significant step toward ensuring training quality and strengthening outcome-based monitoring, as emphasized by officials.

Performance-Based Target Allocation

Targets have been allocated to training institutions based on their previous performance, ensuring that proven providers are entrusted with key responsibilities. For instance:

  • Welspun Living Limited based in Bareilly has been assigned a target of 200 trainees in the apparel sector.
  • Imarticus Learning Private Limited based in Jalaun has been allotted 100 trainees each in the healthcare and apparel sectors.
  • Skilled Tailoring Institute by Raymond based in Lucknow has been given a target of 50 trainees.

Training Duration and Residential Program Requirements

The maximum training duration for these programs has been capped at 600 hours to ensure intensive yet manageable skill acquisition. In residential programmes, a minimum of eight hours of training per day is mandatory, promoting immersive learning experiences.

Portal-Based Verification and Assessment Procedures

Portal-based verification prior to the commencement of training is compulsory, as stated by officials. This digital oversight aims to streamline processes and maintain transparency. UPSDM will conduct assessments through the respective Sector Skill Council to evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of the training initiatives.

This structured approach by UPSDM underscores a commitment to bridging the skill gap and fostering employability among Uttar Pradesh's youth, aligning training efforts with industry demands and economic growth.
