In a significant crackdown on unauthorized urban development, the District Town Planner (DTP) enforcement team in Ambala has demolished six illegal colonies sprawling over a vast area within the Ambala Cantonment's urban limits.
Major Demolition Drive Across Multiple Villages
The extensive enforcement operation targeted illegal colonies spread across approximately 21.5 acres of land. According to official details, the action was part of a sustained campaign against unlawful land development.
In village Chandpura under Ambala Cantonment tehsil, the team razed two illegally developed colonies covering about 10.1 acres. Similarly, in village Sareri, also within the same tehsil, authorities demolished three illegal colonies spanning roughly 10.2 acres. An additional illegal colony covering nearly 1 acre in village Ranwala was also taken down.
Complete Dismantling of Infrastructure
The enforcement action was thorough and aimed at making the sites unusable for future illegal activity. The team completely dismantled the network of kutcha or temporary roads that had been laid within these colonies.
Furthermore, the officials identified and fully demolished 27 under-construction structures found at these sites. This preemptive measure was taken to halt any further unauthorized development and send a strong deterrent message.
Official Warning to the Public
The demolition drive was conducted under tight security, supervised by Duty Magistrate-cum-District Town Planner Rohit Chauhan. He was accompanied by Junior Engineer Ravindra Panwar, the SHO (Enforcement), and a substantial police force to maintain law and order.
Speaking on the occasion, DTP Rohit Chauhan issued a stern public advisory. He appealed to citizens not to fall prey to the misleading promises of property dealers and to refrain from purchasing plots or shops in illegal colonies.
"We caution citizens against investing in such unauthorized developments," he stated, adding that people should strictly avoid any construction activity in these prohibited areas.
The administration has made it clear that this is not a one-time action. Departmental proceedings against illegal colonies and unauthorized constructions will continue in the future. Officials urge residents to take the following steps before any property investment:
- Thoroughly verify the legal status of the land.
- Confirm the approved layout plan of the colony.
- Check all necessary permissions from the town planning department.
This due diligence is essential to avoid severe financial losses and potential legal complications that arise from investing in illegal properties.
