GLADA Issues Notices for Unauthorized Constructions in Ludhiana Crackdown
GLADA Notices for Unauthorized Ludhiana Constructions

GLADA Enforces Strict Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Unplanned Development in Ludhiana

In a decisive move to curb unplanned urban expansion, the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) has issued formal notices to owners of unauthorized constructions across the district. This action is part of an ongoing, rigorous crackdown targeting structures that deviate from legally approved building specifications and plans.

Recent Notices Highlight Serious Violations

In one recent and notable instance, a property owner received a notice for conducting commercial activities and extending construction beyond the limits of a building plan that was officially sanctioned on April 19, 2024. A separate, second notice was issued for a significant structural violation where the owner constructed a basement plus four levels, instead of adhering to the structure originally approved by the competent authority.

Official Warnings and Legal Consequences

Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar has urgently appealed to residents, emphasizing that all construction must be performed strictly in accordance with plans approved by GLADA. He issued a stern warning that any deviation will result in the immediate cancellation of the approved plan and further enforcement actions, which may include the sealing or even demolition of the property. The authority has clarified that the full responsibility for such violations and the subsequent legal consequences rests entirely with the builder or property owner.

Strict Legal Proceedings to Be Initiated

Reiterating this firm stance, GLADA Additional Chief Administrator Vikas Hira stated that, in addition to active demolition campaigns, the authority will initiate strict legal proceedings against any individuals or entities found involved in unauthorized development across the district. This underscores GLADA's commitment to maintaining urban planning standards and preventing illegal construction practices that compromise safety and regulatory compliance.
