The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has taken a significant step forward in its affordable housing mission by launching its 50th such project in the region. This latest initiative, named "White City," involves the development of an affordable residential plotted colony spread across 25 acres in Sector 114, located in village Kailon, Tehsil Mohali.
Revised Layout Plan and Public Notice Issued
GMADA has officially issued a revised layout plan for the White City project, which is being developed by a private firm, as confirmed by authority officers. A public notice regarding this revised layout has already been disseminated, actively inviting attention from prospective buyers and stakeholders to ensure transparency and engagement in the development process.
Mohali's Growing Affordable Housing Landscape
Over the years, Mohali has experienced a steady rise in affordable residential developments, driven by both GMADA and private developers. Key areas such as Kharar, Banur, and sectors including 74-A, 115, and 116 have emerged as prominent hubs for such projects. Currently, the city boasts over 50 affordable residential colonies and close to 1,000 plots that have received approval from the authority, highlighting a robust and expanding market.
Government Commitment to Affordable Home Ownership
GMADA Chief Administrator Sakshi Sawhney emphasized the Punjab government's active promotion of affordable housing schemes. "These initiatives are aimed at enabling individuals from lower- and middle-income groups to own residential property at reasonable costs," she stated. Sawhney further noted that GMADA has already developed 50 affordable plotted colonies across multiple sectors, underscoring a long-term commitment to making home ownership more accessible.
Diverse Housing Options and Pricing
Affordable housing in Mohali encompasses a variety of options, including both plotted developments and group housing projects. Notable locations offering such opportunities include:
- Green Residency in Kharar
- RBC Group Happy Home in Sector 115
- Lok Awas in Sector 74-A
- Khanpur
These projects range from gated plotted communities to group housing schemes, such as Wave Estate Group Housing and various Economically Weaker Section (EWS) initiatives undertaken by GMADA. In terms of pricing, affordable apartments in Mohali are generally available in the range of Rs 30 lakh to Rs 45 lakh, while plotted developments may be priced lower, depending on factors like size and location.
Buyer Advisory and Legal Compliance
Authorities have issued important advice for prospective buyers, urging them to verify project approvals before making any investments. It is recommended to prefer GMADA-approved colonies in sectors such as 78, 79, 80, 88, and 89 to ensure legal compliance and secure transactions. This guidance aims to protect buyers from potential legal issues and promote a safer real estate environment in Mohali.
