Greater Noida Techie Dies in Water-Filled Pit, Family Blames Developers

Police have registered an FIR against two real estate developers following the tragic death of a 27-year-old software engineer in Greater Noida. Yuvraj Mehta lost his life when his car skidded off the road and plunged into a deep, water-filled pit during dense fog conditions early Saturday morning.

Family Alleges Repeated Safety Requests Ignored

The victim's family members claim they had made multiple requests to install proper barricades and reflectors at the accident-prone site. They allege these warnings went unheeded, directly contributing to the fatal incident. Yuvraj Mehta resided in Tata Eureka Park society in Sector 150 and worked for a reputed company in Gurugram. He was returning home from work when the accident occurred.

ACP Hemant Upadhyay confirmed the FIR was filed based on the complaint submitted by Mehta's family. The case now moves forward with formal charges against the developers involved.

Eyewitness Claims Rescue Efforts Were Delayed

Moninder, a delivery agent who witnessed the accident, stated that rescue operations faced significant delays. He believes timely action could have saved the young professional's life. "The response was not quick enough," the eyewitness emphasized, highlighting concerns about emergency protocols at the site.

Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Narayan Mishra described the incident as unfortunate but denied any negligence in the rescue attempt. "Police and fire department teams made concerted efforts to save the youth," Mishra explained. "We deployed a fire department crane, ladder, makeshift boat, and searchlights. However, zero visibility conditions hampered our operations."

Police Cite Fog and Possible Overspeeding

Preliminary police findings point to dense fog and possible overspeeding as contributing factors behind the accident. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Mishra assured that further investigation is actively underway. "Strict action will be taken as per law," he affirmed.

Local Residents Stage Protests, Demand Justice

Angered by the tragedy, local residents organized protests and held a candlelight march on Sunday evening. They demanded justice for Yuvraj Mehta and alleged negligence by both the local authority and area developers. Protesters claimed inadequate safety measures directly led to the young man's death.

Following the demonstrations, the Noida Authority took immediate action by installing barricades at the accident site. This response came after sustained public pressure highlighting the dangerous conditions that had persisted for some time.

The case continues to develop as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal plunge. Community members remain vigilant, calling for improved road safety infrastructure across Greater Noida to prevent similar incidents in the future.
