Gurgaon DTCP Launches Major Anti-Encroachment Campaign with Demolition Drives
In a decisive move against illegal construction, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in Gurgaon has executed multiple demolition drives this week, targeting unauthorized structures across the city. The operations, aimed at curbing encroachment, were carried out in areas including Sadhrana, Bhondsi, and a group housing society in Sector 89.
Intensified Efforts to Halt Illegal Plotting
A DTCP official emphasized that these actions are part of an intensified campaign to combat illegal plotting and construction. The aim of such drives is to stop encroachment at an early stage so that buyers are not misled into purchasing plots in unauthorized developments, he stated. The drives were conducted with support from personnel at Sector 10A and Bhondsi police stations, ensuring smooth execution.
Demolition Details Across Key Locations
On Wednesday, authorities razed an unauthorized colony in Sadhrana village spanning five acres. The demolition included:
- Around 12 damp-proof course foundations (DPCs)
- Three boundary walls
- Two under-construction structures
Additionally, an entire earthen road network within the colony was uprooted to prevent further illegal development and plot sales.
In a separate action on the same day, DTCP demolished an illegal shed constructed on an internal road of Tulip Ace, a group housing colony in Sector 89. This followed a complaint via the Chief Minister's grievance portal, CM Window. The shed, used for parking by residents, was removed to restore the internal road within the complex.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, another drive targeted the urban area of Bhondsi. During this operation, four unauthorized colonies spread across approximately eight acres in Bhondsi and Rithoj villages were flattened. The demolition involved:
- 32 DPCs
- Eight boundary walls
- Two makeshift structures
Both pucca and kutcha road networks were dismantled to discourage further illegal activity.
Addressing Civic Issues and Future Warnings
The DTCP official highlighted that illegal colonies often lack basic amenities such as sewage and drainage systems, as well as proper road networks, leading to significant civic issues. Authorities reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against encroachment and urged property buyers to verify approvals and licenses before investing in plots or properties. This precaution is essential to avoid future disputes or financial losses.
In summary, the DTCP's demolition drives in Gurgaon underscore a proactive approach to urban planning and enforcement, aiming to protect both the city's infrastructure and unsuspecting buyers from the pitfalls of unauthorized developments.
