Rajkot: The B Division police have registered an FIR against a couple for allegedly orchestrating a massive investment fraud and cheating a family along with their associates of Rs 6.18 crore. The accused, Divyesh Savaliya and Nilam Savaliya, residents of Nana Mava Main Road, were the directors of a company called Kamya Textiles.
Complaint Filed by Businesswoman
The case came to light after Jalpa Raiyani, a 48-year-old woman who runs a plastic granules company, lodged a formal complaint. She alleged that the multi-crore fraud was perpetrated over a period of three years, between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025.
How the Fraud Unfolded
According to the complaint, the Savaliyas were friends of Jalpa's husband. They approached him, stating that their textile company needed financial backing. The couple coaxed the family into investing by promising returns of two to three times their investment, while also offering shares in Kamya Textiles. The accused allegedly convinced other victims to hand over large sums of money via bank transfers and cash.
The complaint outlines the investments made by the victims:
- Jalpa's husband invested Rs 4 crore.
- Her relative Rajesh invested Rs 1.43 crore.
- Her family friend Kalpesh invested Rs 30 lakh.
- Jalpa herself invested Rs 45 lakh.
Promises Not Kept
Despite taking the money and promising a 40% stake in the company to Jalpa's husband, the Savaliyas failed to allocate shares, transfer any profits, or furnish the company's audit reports. When pressed by the victims to return the principal investments or the promised returns, the couple allegedly flatly refused. This led the investors to realize that they had been cheated.
Legal Action Taken
The B Division police have booked Divyesh and Nilam Savaliya under Sections 318(4) and 54 of the BNS, along with Section 3 of the Gujarat Protection of Interest of Depositors (GPID) Act.
