The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the detailed vacancy break-up for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination 2025, confirming a total of 3,522 posts across various ministries, offices, and departments of the central government. This marks an increase of 391 posts from the initially announced 3,131 vacancies at the time of notification on June 23, 2025.
Vacancy Distribution by Category and Department
The vacancies include posts such as Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, and Data Entry Operator (DEO). Of the total, 1,675 posts are for the unreserved category, 768 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 337 for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 490 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 252 for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Among departments, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) offers the highest number of vacancies at 392, followed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (361), Office of the Controller General of Defence Accounts (321), and the Intelligence Bureau (316). The SSC clarified that posts under the BRO are exclusively for male candidates.
Preference Submission Mandatory for Final Selection
A total of 30.69 lakh candidates from across the country applied for CHSL 2025. The SSC has directed all candidates who appeared in the Tier-II examination to mandatorily fill their option-cum-preference for posts and departments by 6 pm on June 22, 2026. The CHSL Tier-I examination was conducted from November 12 to 30, 2025, while the Tier-II examination was held on April 10 and 22, 2026.
According to the commission, candidates who fail to submit their preferences within the stipulated time will not be considered for the first round of tentative allocation or the final selection process. The SSC emphasized that preference submission is a crucial step before issuing the first round of tentative allocation and final results.
Delhi Police Constable Result Announced
Separately, the SSC has declared the result of the computer-based examination for Delhi Police Constable (Executive) Male and Female Recruitment Examination 2025. The commission has released the list of candidates shortlisted for the physical endurance and measurement test and document verification.
