Bahraich-Jarwal Road Rail Line Moves Ahead: DPR Complete, Next Steps Await
Bahraich-Jarwal Road Rail Line DPR Finalised

The long-awaited direct railway connection between Bahraich and Jarwal Road in eastern Uttar Pradesh has taken a significant step forward. The crucial Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed 70-kilometre rail line has been finalised, bringing the project closer to reality.

Project Progress and Official Announcement

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha about this development earlier this week. He stated that the survey work for the 70-km stretch is complete and the DPR has been finalised. This marks a pivotal stage in the project's lifecycle, transitioning from planning to the approval phase.

Currently, travel between Bahraich and Jarwal Road requires a detour via Gonda junction. The new direct line is set to drastically cut travel time, offering a faster and more comfortable journey for passengers. This improved connectivity is expected to serve as a catalyst for both economic and social development in the region.

The Road Ahead: Approvals and Clearances

With the DPR in hand, the project now enters a series of procedural stages. As highlighted by the minister and reiterated by BJP MP Anand Gaud, the next steps involve obtaining necessary approvals from various authorities.

The project will now undergo consultations with the state government of Uttar Pradesh. Following this, it will be evaluated by NITI Aayog for broader alignment with national development goals. The final crucial step will be securing financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance.

Broader Rail Infrastructure Push in Uttar Pradesh

Minister Vaishnaw also highlighted several other approved projects aimed at strengthening the rail network in Uttar Pradesh. This indicates a focused push on infrastructure in the state. The other mentioned projects include:

  • The 56-km Budhwal–Jarwal Road–Gonda Kachahri fourth line.
  • The 62-km Budhwal–Jarwal Road–Gonda third line.
  • The 27-km Barabanki–Budhwal third line.
  • A major 240-km new rail line connecting Bahraich to Khalilabad.

The completion of the DPR for the Bahraich-Jarwal Road link is a concrete milestone. While the project still has a procedural path to traverse, it represents a committed move towards enhancing regional connectivity and fostering growth in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
