CBSE Opens Class 12 Re-evaluation Portal After Delays, Students Can Apply Till June 6
CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation Portal Opens, Closes June 6

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally opened the Class 12 re-evaluation portal after facing criticism over delays. The portal, which became active on June 2, will remain accessible until midnight on June 6. Students can use this facility to verify discrepancies in their scanned answer books or request a re-evaluation of specific answers they believe were marked incorrectly.

Key Details of the Re-evaluation Process

The portal allows students to report issues such as missing pages, blurred scans, incorrect answer books, or any other technical glitches. Additionally, students can request a re-evaluation of particular answers if they feel the marking was erroneous. The fee structure is set at ₹100 per answer book for verification of issues, while re-evaluation costs ₹25 per question. Payments can be made via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.

OSM System Under Fire

The On-Screen Marking (OSM) system has faced widespread criticism this year due to evaluation discrepancies, blurred scans, and technical glitches. Many students and parents reported difficulties in accessing scanned copies, leading to delays in the re-evaluation process. CBSE has acknowledged these vulnerabilities and has taken steps to address them, though the portal's late opening has added to the frustration.

Aadhaar Verification Mandatory

For security purposes, Aadhaar verification is mandatory to access the portal. However, if a student does not have an Aadhaar card, they can use their parents' or guardians' Aadhaar details. This measure aims to prevent fraudulent applications and ensure that only genuine students can request re-evaluation.

Statistics and Timeline

  • Number of students who applied for scanned answer books: 4,04,319
  • Total answer books covered by scanned copy applications: 11.31 lakh
  • Portal opening date: June 2
  • Portal closing date: June 6
  • Verification fee per answer book: ₹100

Students are advised to act quickly and submit their requests before the portal closes. The CBSE has assured that all valid requests will be processed in a timely manner, though past delays have raised concerns about the board's efficiency.
