The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported that its re-evaluation portal received a massive 70,433 applications for Class 10 and Class 12 results. The portal, which opened for a limited period, allowed students to apply for re-evaluation of their answer sheets. Despite facing a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, the portal remained secure and fully functional.
Details of Re-Evaluation Applications
Out of the total applications, 53,204 were for Class 12 and 17,229 for Class 10. The CBSE had announced the re-evaluation process after the declaration of results, giving students a chance to get their answer scripts rechecked. The board ensured that the process was smooth and transparent.
Security Measures Amid Cyber Attack
The CBSE re-evaluation portal was targeted by a DDoS attack, which attempts to overwhelm a server with traffic to make it unavailable. However, the board's cybersecurity team quickly mitigated the threat, ensuring that no data was compromised and the portal remained accessible to students. The CBSE stated that all security protocols were followed to protect sensitive information.
Process and Timeline
Students who applied for re-evaluation will have their answer sheets rechecked by a different examiner. The revised marks, if any change, will be communicated to students via the official CBSE website. The board has also warned students against fake websites and phishing attempts.
Previous Year Trends
In the previous academic year, the CBSE had received over 60,000 applications for re-evaluation. The increase in applications this year indicates a growing trust in the re-evaluation process. The board has consistently improved its technology infrastructure to handle such large volumes efficiently.
Recommendations for Students
- Students should regularly check the official CBSE website for updates on re-evaluation results.
- They should avoid sharing personal information on unverified portals.
- In case of any discrepancy, students should contact CBSE helpline numbers.
The CBSE has assured that the re-evaluation process will be completed within the stipulated time frame. The board continues to prioritize the security and confidentiality of student data.
