Shimla: Anmol, a student of AVM Senior Secondary School, Pahra, in Kangra district, has topped the Class X examination conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE). The results were declared in Dharamshala on Sunday. Anmol achieved an outstanding score of 699 marks out of 700, securing a remarkable 99.86 percent.
Top Three Positions
The second position was shared by three students: Roohani Dhiman and Abhinav Mehta from Govt Senior Secondary School, Rapoh, in Amb tehsil of Una district, and Purnima Sharma from Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, Bilaspur. Each of them scored 698 marks, equivalent to 99.71 percent. The third spot was jointly held by Ashwika Sharma from Neelam Public Senior Secondary School, Bihru, in Hamirpur and Alisha Thakur from Oxford School, Kotli, in Mandi district, both securing 697 marks or 99.57 percent.
Merit List Highlights
According to HPBOSE, a total of 107 students made it to the merit list. Among them, 83 were girls, constituting 77.5 percent of the list. Out of these meritorious girls, 62 studied in private schools while 21 were from government schools. Among the 24 boys in the merit list, 21 were from private schools.
Overall Pass Percentage
The overall pass percentage for the Class X examination was recorded at 83.87 percent. A total of 93,661 students appeared for the examination held in March. Of these, 78,150 students passed, 6,559 failed, and 8,433 received compartment. HPBOSE Chairman Rajesh Sharma, addressing a press conference in Dharamshala, noted that this year's pass percentage has improved compared to the previous two years. In 2024, the pass percentage was 74.61 percent, and in 2025, it was 79.8 percent.
Re-examination Opportunity
Chairman Sharma announced that students who failed the examination will be given another chance in June. He stated, "Students who failed in two subjects or those who wish to improve their marks will be allowed to retake the exam. This initiative is being implemented on a trial basis for Class X students in alignment with the National Education Policy. The failed students will have the opportunity to save their entire academic year."
Chief Minister Congratulates Topper
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu personally spoke to Anmol over the phone and congratulated her for topping the examination. In a message, the CM also extended his congratulations to all students who successfully cleared the exam. He encouraged those who could not pass, advising them not to lose hope and to prepare again with renewed determination.
