A total of 6,407 candidates appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) across 12 designated centres in Trichy district on Sunday. The district recorded an attendance of approximately 96%, as there were 6,688 registered applicants.
Madurai NEET Attendance
In Madurai, out of 8,578 registered candidates, 8,214 applicants took the test at 14 centres. Students and their parents braved the scorching heat to reach the test centres, with the exam held from 2pm to 5pm.
Trichy Exam Centres
In Trichy, the centres included two each at Anna University College of Engineering, NIT, Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College, National College, and Bishop Heber College. One centre each was set up at Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School in Mannachanallur and Government Higher Secondary School in Lalgudi. There were reports that students were not allowed to write the exams as they had turned up late at some centres.
Strict protocols were followed regarding dress code, permitted items, and conduct inside the examination hall as per guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency. Entry was allowed only after thorough security checks and verification procedures.
Traffic Congestion in Dindigul
At St Mary's Higher Secondary School in Dindigul, parents of candidates parked their cars in a line along Tamil Street from the school entrance to Periyar statue, leading to traffic congestion.
