A tragic incident has come to light where a NEET aspirant died by suicide, leaving behind a heart-wrenching note that highlights the immense pressure faced by students. The note, shared on social media, read: "Mom and Dad, you had faith that your daughter would study hard and become a doctor, but I no longer have the courage to take the NEET exam again. I was scoring good marks in my first attempt, but now there is no guarantee."
Father's Sacrifices
The aspirant, identified as Akanksha, dreamed of becoming a doctor to serve the country and society. Her father, a farmer, took a loan of Rs 3 lakh under the Kisan Credit Card to fund her coaching. He also took up a job as a cook in Nagpur to support her education. Despite his best efforts, the pressure of the exam proved too much for Akanksha.
Political Reaction
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over the incident, tweeting: "A father did everything he could. Then NEET..." He highlighted the plight of students and the need for mental health support. The incident has sparked a debate on the intense competition and stress associated with medical entrance exams in India.
Authorities are investigating the case, and counseling services have been urged for students preparing for competitive exams. The family is devastated, and the community mourns the loss of a promising young life.
