As Class X and XII board examinations draw closer, bookstores across Ranchi are witnessing a remarkable increase in the demand for sample papers and reference materials. Students are actively purchasing printed study resources to enhance their preparation and boost performance during these crucial academic evaluations.
High Demand for Printed Study Materials
Bookstore owners in the city confirm that sample papers for CBSE, JAC, and ICSE boards are particularly sought after as examination dates approach. Rohit Makkar, proprietor of New Vidyasagar bookstore, highlighted the growing trend among students preferring materials from established publishers.
"We're experiencing high demand for sample papers across all major education boards," Makkar stated. "Students predominantly choose publications from Arihant, Edukart, and Oswaal because these companies provide comprehensive resources including solved papers, model test papers, and extensive question banks."
According to Makkar, previous years' question papers and specialized reference guides are also selling rapidly as students seek to build confidence through thorough practice and familiarization with exam patterns.
Digital Shift Impacts Traditional Bookstores
Despite the overall surge in demand, the trend isn't consistent across all retail outlets. Prakhar Lohia, owner of Ranchi Book Depot, presented a contrasting perspective on the current market scenario.
"While there's certainly demand, our sales figures are comparatively lower than previous years," Lohia explained. "Many students are now transitioning to online platforms for their study material requirements. Additionally, some students and parents opt for pirated copies because they're more affordable, and their primary focus remains on accessing study content regardless of the source."
Students Prioritize Exam Readiness
The enthusiasm among students for these preparatory resources remains unmistakably high. Jiya Verma, a Class 12 student from Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Bokaro, expressed her reliance on sample papers for effective exam preparation.
"I definitely plan to purchase sample papers and previous years' question papers for my CBSE board exams," Verma confirmed. "These resources genuinely assist with time management skills and provide crucial insights into the marking scheme patterns."
Industry observers like Jaiprakash Sharma, a local book dealer, note that parents and students are exploring every possible avenue to ensure thorough preparation. "The sample and reference book shopping spree is anticipated to continue intensifying," Sharma observed, "with vendors strategically stocking inventory to accommodate the escalating demand throughout the examination season."
