Tripura Board Announces 84.18% Pass Rate in Madhyamik, 79.83% in HS
Tripura Board Reports 84.18% Pass in Madhyamik, 79.83% in HS

The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has announced the results for the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations for the current academic year. The Madhyamik examination witnessed an average pass percentage of 84.18 among 27,094 students, while the Higher Secondary examination recorded a pass percentage of 79.83 among 26,502 students.

Result Announcement and Improvement Exams

Announcing the results on Friday, TBSE President Prof Dhananjoy Gonchaudhury stated that the results are expected to improve further. As per the norms, students will be allowed to sit for improvement exams under the Bachar Bachao Abhiyan (Save Academic Year Campaign), which will be conducted within the next two months. This initiative aims to provide students with an opportunity to enhance their scores and save their academic year.

No Top-Ten Merit List This Year

The board also announced its decision not to release a top-ten merit list this year. Prof Gonchaudhury explained that this step was taken to avoid potential discrepancies that could arise during re-evaluation or self-assessment processes. Referring to previous instances, he noted that in the last year, students initially listed in the top ten were later displaced after rechecking, causing complications for both the students and the board. Students who secure positions on a top-ten merit list from any board often qualify for direct admission into medical or engineering colleges without taking entrance exams. To address fairness concerns, TBSE plans to resume publishing a merit list from next year but will only issue certificates after the entire evaluation process, including rechecks, is complete.

School Performance Highlights

Highlighting institutional performance, Prof Gonchaudhury noted that 271 schools achieved a 100% success rate in the Madhyamik examinations, while five schools recorded zero percent success. For the Higher Secondary level, 60 schools achieved full success rates, with one school unable to produce any successful candidates. These figures reflect the varying levels of academic achievement across institutions in the state.

The board's decision to withhold the merit list this year is seen as a step towards ensuring transparency and fairness in the evaluation process. Students and parents have been advised to check the official TBSE website for individual results and further updates regarding improvement exams.
