The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released an important corrigendum concerning the LT Grade Teacher Recruitment-2025, in compliance with directives from the Allahabad High Court. The commission has clarified that assistant teachers selected through this recruitment process will be assigned exclusively to teach students of Classes IX and X in government secondary schools across the state.
Background of the Clarification
The clarification follows multiple petitions filed before the Allahabad High Court challenging certain provisions of the recruitment advertisement published on July 28, 2025. The advertisement sought applications for assistant teachers in various subjects under the Trained Graduate Teacher (LT Grade) category. Petitioners argued that the selected teachers could also be tasked with teaching students of Classes VI to VIII, despite the advertisement not mentioning the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), which is mandatory for teaching at the upper primary level.
High Court Directive
After hearing the matter, the Allahabad High Court on April 2 directed the commission to explicitly state in the recruitment notification that appointments are solely for teaching at the secondary level, specifically Classes IX and X. In adherence to this order, the UPPSC has now issued a revised notification delineating the scope of appointments.
Official Statement
Examination Controller Harshdev Pandey confirmed that all teachers selected under the LT Grade recruitment process will be appointed strictly for secondary-level teaching assignments. This clarification is expected to eliminate confusion among candidates regarding eligibility and teaching responsibilities under the recruitment drive.
Impact on Recruitment Process
Officials have stated that the revised notification ensures transparency and compliance with prescribed educational norms for secondary education appointments in Uttar Pradesh government schools. The UPPSC has urged all candidates to review the updated notification to understand the exact nature of the teaching positions.
