Vadodara: The city's IIT aspirations received a significant boost on Monday as the JEE (Advanced) 2026 results placed several city students among the top national rankers, highlighting the city's steady rise in India's most challenging engineering entrance test.
Impressive Performance by Vadodara Students
Students from Vadodara delivered an outstanding performance according to the results declared by IIT Roorkee on Monday. Dev Prajapati emerged as the city topper with an all-India rank (AIR) of 174 and a rank of 26 in the OBC category. Pranshu Gupta followed with AIR 274, while Vedant Deshmane secured AIR 626 to claim the third spot in Vadodara.
Other Top Performers
Among other top performers, Jainam Shah secured AIR 926 and Aishwar Shandilya achieved AIR 1,381. He was followed by Manav Gujjar (AIR 1,416), Hrishabh Verma (AIR 1,544), and Supriya Verma (AIR 1,559), who is the city's highest-ranked girl candidate. Other students who secured notable ranks included Saumya Trivedi (AIR 1,704), Rohan Patel (AIR 1,867), Raj Aayush (AIR 1,915), and Aditya Bhattacharya (AIR 1,999).
Building on JEE Main Success
The strong showing builds on an equally impressive performance in JEE (Main) 2026 Sessions 1 and 2, where at least 46 candidates from the city ranked above the 99th percentile. Many of the top scorers in JEE (Advanced) had also excelled in JEE (Main), with several appearing in the second session to improve scores and enhance their chances of securing higher ranks.

JEE (Advanced), the gateway to the Indian Institutes of Technology, remains one of the most competitive engineering entrance exams in the country. The city's consistent performance underscores its growing reputation as a hub for academic excellence in engineering education.
