The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has announced the results for the Higher Secondary (Uccha Madhyamik) examination 2026. Adrita Pal has emerged as the state topper, securing the highest marks in the examination.
Topper's Achievement
Adrita Pal, a student of a reputed school in Kolkata, scored an impressive 498 out of 500 marks, achieving a perfect score in multiple subjects. Her outstanding performance has brought laurels to her family and institution. She aims to pursue a career in medicine and is preparing for the NEET entrance examination.
Overall Pass Percentage
This year, the overall pass percentage stands at 85.3%, which is a slight increase from last year's 84.7%. A total of 8,50,000 students appeared for the examination, out of which 7,25,000 have successfully passed. The number of students securing the highest grade (A+) has also increased, indicating improved academic performance across the state.
District-Wise Performance
Among districts, Kolkata has recorded the highest pass percentage at 92.1%, followed by North 24 Parganas at 90.5% and Hooghly at 89.8%. The districts of Purulia and Bankura have shown significant improvement compared to previous years.
Stream-Wise Analysis
In the Science stream, the pass percentage is 91.2%, while Commerce and Arts streams have recorded 87.4% and 82.1% respectively. The number of students opting for Science stream has increased by 5% this year, reflecting a growing interest in STEM fields.
How to Check Results
Students can check their results on the official website of WBCHSE at wbchse.nic.in. They need to enter their roll number and date of birth to access their scorecards. The council has also made arrangements for SMS and mobile app-based result checking.
Supplementary Examinations
For students who could not clear the examination, the WBCHSE will conduct supplementary examinations in July 2026. The application process for the same will begin from June 1, 2026. Detailed information regarding the schedule and fees will be available on the official website.
The WBCHSE has also announced that the mark sheets and certificates will be dispatched to schools within two weeks. Students are advised to collect their documents from their respective institutions.
