CBI Arrests Latur Tutor in NEET UG Paper Leak

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, the proprietor of Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC) in Latur, Maharashtra, in connection with the NEET UG paper leak case, officials confirmed on Monday.

According to officials, a leaked question paper for the medical entrance examination was discovered on Motegaonkar's mobile phone during searches conducted by the agency on Sunday. He was subsequently arrested following the recovery of the incriminating evidence.

The CBI has alleged that Motegaonkar was an active member of an organised criminal gang involved in the leakage and circulation of the NEET UG question paper. Investigations revealed that Motegaonkar, in conspiracy with other accused individuals, received the question paper and answers for the NEET UG Exam 2026 ahead of the scheduled examination date of April 23, 2026. He is further accused of circulating the paper to several other individuals, thereby facilitating the widespread leak.

Details of the Arrest

The arrest was made after the CBI conducted extensive searches at multiple locations. The recovery of the leaked paper from Motegaonkar's phone provided crucial evidence linking him to the conspiracy. The agency is now probing the broader network involved in the leak, including how the question paper was obtained and distributed.

Background of the Case

The NEET UG paper leak case has been a major concern for authorities, as it compromises the integrity of the medical entrance examination. The CBI has been investigating the matter vigorously, with several arrests already made. This latest arrest underscores the agency's commitment to cracking down on those involved in such malpractices.

Motegaonkar's role as a tutor and the use of his coaching institute for allegedly facilitating the leak highlight the need for stricter oversight of educational institutions. The CBI continues to gather evidence and question other suspects to dismantle the entire network.
