Guwahati: Assam Royal Global University (RGU) is fully prepared to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, as students enter the final year under the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUGP). University officials confirmed that RGU has enacted the necessary statutory provisions through appropriate amendments to facilitate this transition.
Programme Offerings and Expansion
RGU is offering the FYUGP in 37 programmes, which are in addition to 14 other four-year professional programmes already provided by the university. This expansion reflects the institution's commitment to diversifying academic opportunities for students.
Research Commitment and Faculty Support
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain emphasized the university's dedication to research. Departments are preparing specific plans for meaningful graduate research tailored to students' aptitudes, supported by training from experienced faculty members. This approach aims to foster a research-oriented culture among undergraduates.
Infrastructure Enhancements
As admission procedures for the fourth year are underway, RGU has added infrastructure to accommodate the increased academic load. New classrooms, laboratories, seminar halls, and library facilities have been developed to support the expanded curriculum and student needs.
Academic Council Approvals
Regarding the academic strategies for the four-year degree with honours and with honours-cum-research, the university's academic council has granted due approvals to the necessary syllabi. This ensures that the programmes meet the required standards and provide a robust educational framework.
RGU's proactive steps in implementing NEP 2020 position it as a forward-thinking institution in the region, aligning with national educational reforms to enhance student learning and research outcomes.
