Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) on Thursday outlined its admission plans for the 2026-27 academic session and highlighted ongoing infrastructure expansion and academic initiatives aimed at strengthening its position as a centre of excellence.
Vice-Chancellor's Vision
Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar Mittal said that efforts are being made to expand skill-based and value-added courses to equip students with competencies required in a rapidly changing world. He emphasised that the university is committed to providing holistic education that prepares students for future challenges.
Sustainability Goals
Prof Mittal stated that BBAU is working towards becoming a net-zero carbon campus through initiatives such as biodiversity conservation, scientific recycling of paper and e-waste, and commercial promotion of the herbal garden. These efforts align with global environmental sustainability targets.
Entrepreneurship and Startup Culture
The VC added that entrepreneurship and startup culture is being encouraged through the university’s Navkalpana Section 8 Company. This initiative aims to foster innovation and provide students with opportunities to develop their business ideas.
Infrastructure Expansion
He also highlighted infrastructure expansion, including a modern computer lab with around 200 systems, strengthening of hostel facilities, promotion of co-curricular and extracurricular activities through hobby clubs, and development of student-centric amenities. These upgrades are designed to enhance the overall learning environment.
Future Plans
Outlining future plans, Prof Mittal said the university aims to expand open and distance learning programmes, promote NRI quota admissions across undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses, establish high-performance computing facilities, introduce a PG diploma in artificial intelligence, and publish high-quality research journals. These steps are expected to elevate BBAU's academic standing and attract a diverse student body.
