JPSC Adds 16 Subjects in JET, Extends Deadline

In a significant development for academic aspirants in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has announced the inclusion of 16 allied subjects in the Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) examination. This move comes in response to demands from candidates and following directions from the Human Resource Department.

Extended Application Deadline

The commission has also extended the application deadline for the third time, providing additional opportunities for candidates to complete their submissions. The new final date for filing applications is now December 1, moved from the previous deadline of November 17. This extension aims to give aspirants more time to arrange all necessary documents and complete the application process smoothly.

New Subject Additions Across Disciplines

The JPSC notification issued on Friday detailed the comprehensive list of allied subjects added to six core academic areas. The expansion covers diverse fields including life sciences, history, social welfare, home science, physical sciences, geology, performing arts, and computer applications.

In the life sciences category, students can now opt for biotechnology, microbiology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, and bio-science. History enthusiasts will benefit from the inclusion of archaeology, while rural development has been added to Labour and Social Welfare (LSW).

The home science discipline now incorporates clinical nutrition and dietetics along with textile and fashion designing. Physics students gain electronic science as an option, while geology expands to include geophysics and earth, atmospheric, ocean and planetary science. Performing arts now features theatre arts, and computer science applications have been broadened.

Application Correction Window

For candidates who have already submitted their applications, the JPSC has provided a correction window from December 3 to December 5. During this period, applicants can make necessary changes to their forms in light of the new subject additions.

A JPSC official explained on Saturday that the decision followed appeals from aspirants who had approached the High Court seeking the inclusion of these subjects. The Human Resource Department recently conducted a meeting and recommended the addition of these allied subjects, effectively addressing nearly all demands put forward by the candidates.

This marks the third extension in the application timeline, demonstrating the commission's commitment to accommodating student needs. The deadline was initially extended from September 6 to October 30, then to November 17, and now finally to December 1.
