Kohima DC Announces Rs 2 Lakh Scholarship for Girls

Dimapur: Kohima deputy commissioner B Henok Buchem on Thursday announced a scholarship of Rs 2 lakh, under the Centre’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) scheme, for meritorious girl students in the district.

Under the scholarship scheme, titled “Educate Her, Empower Her”, 20 deserving girl students will receive a one-time financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each. The initiative seeks to recognise academic excellence among girls and support their educational aspirations.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to female students who are permanent residents of Kohima district and have passed the Class X or Class XII examinations in 2026 with a minimum of 60% marks.

According to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner, preference will be given to students from economically weaker sections, orphaned or single-parent households, and differently-abled students.

Income and Selection

As per the scheme guidelines, the annual family income of applicants should not exceed Rs 1.5 lakh. Selection of beneficiaries will be based on academic merit, socio-economic background, and verification by the district-level selection committee.

Application Deadline

The last date for submission of applications is June 30.
