AMU Student Found Dead in Hostel Room
A final-year diploma student at Aligarh Muslim University was found dead on Monday. Insha Fatima lived in Sarojini Naidu Hall, commonly called SN Hall. University authorities discovered her hanging in her hostel room.
University Proctor Provides Details
Professor Mohd Wasim Ali serves as the Proctor of AMU. He shared information about the tragic event. "Today, around 7:30, we received information that she had hung herself in her room," Professor Ali stated. "We immediately took her to the medical college. The entire medical team tried to save her. Despite their efforts, they could not save her and declared her dead."
Professor Ali confirmed that authorities have sealed the room where the incident occurred. He emphasized that the matter is under investigation. "If any complaint or First Information Report is filed, we will conduct a thorough probe," he assured. "This investigation will uncover the reasons behind the incident."
Recent Teacher Shooting Adds to University Tensions
This student death follows another violent incident at the same university just days earlier. A teacher at AMU's ABK School was shot in the head by unknown attackers.
Professor Ali provided details about that shooting as well. "Around 9 pm, we received information about a shooting near the library," he explained. "An injured man was being taken for treatment. We later learned the victim was Rao Danish Ali, a teacher at our ABK School."
The teacher was shot in the head and died at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. Police arrived quickly after receiving the alert. Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadon confirmed that two unidentified individuals shot Rao. The exact number of shots fired remains uncertain, with reports varying between three and five.
Police continue investigating both incidents. They are working to locate the attackers from the teacher shooting. University authorities are cooperating fully with all investigations.
