Bengaluru Corporation PU Colleges Record 74.16% Pass Rate in II PU Exams
The pre-university colleges operating under Bengaluru's city corporations have demonstrated a solid academic performance in the recently declared II PU examination results. The institutions collectively achieved a pass percentage of 74.16%, reflecting a positive trend in educational outcomes within the municipal framework.
Examination Participation and Distinction Achievements
A total of 2,593 students from 19 PU colleges spread across five city corporations appeared for the crucial II PU examinations. Out of these candidates, an impressive 1,923 students successfully cleared the exams, securing their progression to higher education. Notably, 260 high-achieving students distinguished themselves by scoring over 85% marks, thereby qualifying for the distinction category.
Financial Incentives for Academic Excellence
In recognition of their outstanding performance, the Greater Bengaluru Authority has announced a substantial cash incentive of Rs 35,000 for each of the 260 distinction holders. Munishamappa, GBA's senior assistant director for education, confirmed that the funds will be disbursed from the respective corporations' dedicated education budgets.
"This year marks a significant milestone as we witnessed the highest number of distinction holders in corporation PU colleges to date," stated Munishamappa. "We have observed a noticeable improvement in the overall results, which is encouraging for our educational initiatives. Furthermore, GBA plans to introduce Rs 25,000 scholarships for SSLC students from corporation schools who achieve scores exceeding 85%."
Top Performing Institutions and Individual Achievers
Among the various institutions, Bhairaveshwara Nagar PU College under the west city corporation emerged as the top performer with an exceptional pass percentage of 88.82%. It was closely followed by Kasturibanagar PU College under the central city corporation, which recorded 86.45%, and Srirampura PU College under the west city corporation, achieving 81.99%.
Students from Cleveland Town PU College under the north city corporation delivered particularly strong performances. In the commerce stream, Firdose and Sajida (CEBA) achieved an outstanding score of 582 out of 600, translating to 97%. Meanwhile, in the science stream, Afreen Kouser (PCMB) secured 578 out of 600, equivalent to 96.3%.
In the arts stream, Musarath Nadeem Pasha from Bhairaveshwara Nagar PU College excelled with a score of 574 out of 600, representing 95.66%, establishing himself as a top performer in his discipline.
