Bihar Class 10 Board Examinations Set to Commence with Enhanced Vigilance

The academic landscape in Bihar is poised for a significant event as the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) prepares to launch the Class 10 board examinations starting tomorrow, February 17, 2026. This crucial academic assessment will span nine days, concluding on February 25, 2026, and will be conducted meticulously in two shifts daily across the entire state.

Massive Student Participation and Gender Distribution

This year's examination witnesses an impressive turnout, with approximately 15.12 lakh students registered to appear. According to official data released by the board, the total number of candidates stands at 15,12,687, showcasing a notable gender balance. The breakdown reveals 7,85,722 girls and 7,26,961 boys are set to undertake this pivotal academic milestone.

The examinations will be held at 1,699 designated centers statewide, ensuring widespread accessibility. In Patna district alone, authorities have established 70 examination centers to accommodate 71,022 students, highlighting the scale of logistical coordination required.

Strict Examination Schedule and Shift Details

The BSEB has organized the examinations in two daily shifts to manage the large candidate pool efficiently:

  • First Shift: This session will host 7,58,633 candidates, comprising 3,93,890 girls and 3,64,743 boys.
  • Second Shift: The subsequent shift will see 7,54,054 candidates appearing, including 3,91,836 girls and 3,62,218 boys.

Zero Tolerance Policy Against Examination Malpractice

BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore has issued clear directives to all district officials and police authorities, emphasizing the imperative of conducting the examinations in a peaceful and malpractice-free environment. The board has announced a stringent zero tolerance policy against any form of examination irregularity.

Any attempt to compromise the integrity of the examination process will result in severe consequences. Forced or illegal entry into examination centers will be treated as serious misconduct. Candidates found engaging in such activities face expulsion from board examinations for up to two years, with the possibility of a First Information Report (FIR) being filed against them.

Furthermore, officials discovered assisting in malpractice will confront immediate suspension and legal action, underscoring the board's commitment to fairness.

Comprehensive Security and Entry Protocols

To ensure a secure examination atmosphere, the BSEB has implemented rigorous entry and security measures:

  • Entry Timing: Students must arrive at the examination center at least one hour before the exam begins. The main gate will be sealed 30 minutes prior to the start, with no late entries permitted under any circumstances.
  • Two-Level Frisking: Candidates will undergo security checks at two distinct stages:
    1. Initial screening at the main gate conducted by magistrates and police personnel.
    2. Secondary verification inside the examination hall by appointed invigilators.
  • Invigilation Standards: One invigilator will supervise every 25 students and must formally certify that all candidates have been thoroughly checked.

Permitted and Prohibited Items

Candidates are instructed to carry only essential items to the examination hall:

  • Valid admit card
  • Basic stationery including pen, pencil, and instrument box

Unauthorized papers, electronic devices, or gadgets are strictly forbidden. Each candidate has been assigned a Unique ID, prominently printed on their admit card for identification purposes.

The board has enforced a complete ban on electronic devices, including mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, electronic watches, pagers, and any similar gadgets. To bolster monitoring, CCTV cameras and videography arrangements have been installed at every examination center.

Special Provisions and Contingency Measures

The BSEB has outlined specific guidelines to address various scenarios:

  • Forgotten Admit Card: Candidates who forget or lose their admit card may receive provisional permission to write the exam. Their identity will be verified using photographs available in attendance sheets and roll records.
  • Disabled Candidates: Special provisions include the provision of a writer (scribe) if required, along with an additional 20 minutes per hour of examination time.
  • Footwear Rule: Following last year's regulation, students are generally not permitted to wear shoes and socks. However, limited relaxation may be allowed under special weather conditions. Normally, only simple footwear without thick soles is acceptable.

Instructions for Examination Staff

Teachers and staff assigned to examination duty are permitted to carry only exam-related documents. They are strictly prohibited from using mobile phones within the examination premises, ensuring an environment free from distractions and potential malpractice.

With these comprehensive measures in place, the Bihar School Examination Board aims to conduct the Class 10 board examinations with utmost transparency, security, and academic integrity, providing a fair platform for over 15 lakh students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
