Bihar Intermediate Examinations 2026 Commence Peacefully Across State

The 2026 annual intermediate examinations in Bihar began on a peaceful and orderly note on Monday, with the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) conducting tests across 1,762 examination centres throughout the state. The examinations were held under tight security arrangements in both morning and afternoon sittings, ensuring a smooth start to this crucial academic event.

Subject-Wise Examinations and Student Reactions

Students from science and arts faculties appeared for their respective papers during the day. In the first sitting, candidates took examinations in either biology or philosophy, while the second sitting featured the economics paper.

The exam began on a positive note, with most examinees expressing satisfaction with the biology paper. "The questions asked in the paper were mostly based on the pattern of model questions released by BSEB in the first week of December and hence they were easy to answer," said an examinee coming out of the Bankipur Girls School centre in Patna.

However, some students found the economics paper more challenging. "The questions of economics were not so easy to answer and, hence, I could not answer all the questions satisfactorily," shared an examinee at a Mithapur centre, reflecting the mixed experiences of students across different subjects.

Security Measures and Unfair Means Cases

The BSEB implemented comprehensive security protocols to maintain examination integrity. As many as 26 examinees were expelled for using unfair means on the very first day, with Nawada district reporting the highest number at 13 cases. In Sheikhpura district, one student was caught impersonating another examinee, according to BSEB sources.

To prevent question paper leakage, the board made fool-proof arrangements for the delivery and opening of question packets at examination centres. The sealed packets were opened in the presence of officials and examinees, ensuring complete transparency in the process.

Enhanced Security Deployment and Procedures

Magistrates along with police personnel were deployed at all examination centres to maintain law and order. Strict entry protocols were enforced, with no student allowed to enter the examination hall after the commencement of the exam.

Each examinee underwent thorough frisking at the entrance gate as well as inside the examination hall. The BSEB maintained a ratio of one invigilator for every 25 examinees, with each invigilator furnishing an affidavit certifying that all students under their supervision were thoroughly checked and found with no objectionable materials.

Peaceful Conduct in Patna District

In Patna district specifically, the examination was conducted peacefully and fairly at all 84 centres across both sittings. BSEB chairman Anand Kishor made surprise visits to several centres to personally inspect arrangements, including:

  • Government Girls School and Government Boys School, Shastrinagar
  • K B Sahay High School, Sheikhpura
  • Government Girls High School, Gardanibagh
  • Kamla Nehru Girls High School, Yarpur
  • S R P S +2 School, Gardanibagh

Special Model Examination Centres

The board established 152 model examination centres across the state, with four centres in each district featuring all-women staff including examinees, invigilators and security personnel. In Patna, the four model centres are:

  1. Government Girls High School, Bankipur
  2. Government Girls High School, Shastrinagar
  3. Kamla Nehru Girls High School, Yarpur
  4. Government Girls High School, Gardanibagh

These special centres were decorated with flowers and balloons, provided a red-carpet welcome to students, and featured dedicated help desks to assist examinees throughout the examination process.

The comprehensive arrangements and strict monitoring reflect the BSEB's commitment to conducting fair and transparent examinations while ensuring the comfort and security of all participating students across Bihar.
