The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has officially declared the results for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025. The announcement was made by the board's chairman, Anand Kishor, on January 5, 2026. This crucial examination determines eligibility for teaching positions in secondary and higher secondary schools across the state.
Key Statistics and Pass Percentages
A total of 4,42,214 candidates appeared for the STET 2025 examination, which was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode between October 14 and November 16, 2025. Out of these, 2,56,301 candidates have successfully qualified, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 57.96 per cent. The gender-wise breakdown shows 1,04,167 female and 1,52,134 male candidates among the qualifiers.
The examination was split into two papers. Paper 1, for eligibility to teach Classes 9 and 10, saw 2,46,415 candidates appear. Of these, 1,54,145 candidates qualified, achieving a high pass percentage of 62.56%. Paper 2, for Classes 11 and 12, had 1,95,799 candidates, with 1,02,156 clearing it at a pass rate of 52.17%.
How to Check Results and Exam Details
Candidates can now access their results on the official website, bsebstet.org. They need to visit the result link and log in using their unique user ID and password. The board will issue STET eligibility certificates to all successful candidates from both papers.
The STET 2025 was a multiple-choice question paper with 150 questions carrying 150 marks. The marking scheme was candidate-friendly, with one mark for each correct answer and no negative marking for incorrect responses. The paper was divided into two sections: 100 marks for subject-specific content and 50 marks for teaching aptitude and related competencies.
Category-Wise Qualifying Marks and Exam Centres
The Bihar Board has set different minimum qualifying marks for various categories, as per a government resolution. The required percentages are:
- General category: 50 per cent
- Backward Classes (BC): 45.5 per cent
- Extremely Backward Classes (EBC): 42.5 per cent
- Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and Women: 40 per cent
The examination was conducted across 23 centres in nine districts: Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Munger, Saharsa, Bhojpur, and Purnea. Tests were held in two shifts per day to accommodate the large number of aspirants.
Online applications for STET 2025 were accepted from September 19 to October 5, 2025. Paper 1 covered 16 subjects, while Paper 2 encompassed a wider range of 29 subjects.
Chairman Anand Kishor congratulated all the successful candidates on this achievement. He also encouraged those who did not qualify this time to persist in their efforts, advising them to prepare with greater dedication and confidence for future STET examinations.
