CBSE Launches SARAS 7.0 Portal for School Affiliation Applications for 2027-28 Academic Session

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially opened the online application window for school affiliation under multiple categories for the upcoming academic session 2027–28. All applications must be submitted exclusively through the newly updated SARAS 7.0 portal, marking a significant step in the digitalization of educational administration processes.

Key Application Deadlines and Categories

The Board has issued a clear directive to applicant schools, emphasizing strict adherence to the instructions outlined in the Affiliation Bye-Laws and the comprehensive Manual 7.0, which is available for download on the official CBSE website. Schools planning to seek fresh affiliation, upgradation, extension, or other necessary permissions are required to submit their applications within the specified timelines to ensure smooth processing.

Importantly, the application window operates on a dual-track system. While certain categories will remain open throughout the entire year, others have a fixed deadline of July 31, 2026. This structured approach aims to streamline operations and provide clarity to educational institutions nationwide.

Categories with July 31, 2026 Deadline

The following affiliation categories must be applied for by the July 31, 2026, deadline:

  • Fresh Affiliation up to Secondary Level
  • Fresh Affiliation up to Senior Secondary Level

Before submitting applications, schools must ensure full compliance with critical norms, including land regulations, infrastructure requirements, and staff qualifications. Failure to meet these standards could result in application rejection or significant delays.

In a move to enhance flexibility, CBSE has clarified that the SARAS 7.0 window will remain open throughout the year for the following categories:

  1. Approval for Middle Class Syllabus
  2. Closure of School
  3. Land correction (increase or decrease)
  4. Permission for change of school name

Additionally, all Foreign/International Schools and Government/Government-Aided schools are mandated to follow the prescribed application process through the SARAS portal, ensuring uniformity and transparency across all educational sectors.

Advisory for Schools

CBSE has strongly advised schools to meticulously review Manual 7.0 before initiating the application process on the SARAS portal. This proactive step is crucial to avoid common pitfalls that could lead to rejection or unnecessary delays. The Board emphasizes that thorough preparation and adherence to guidelines will facilitate a smoother affiliation process, ultimately benefiting the educational ecosystem.

This initiative underscores CBSE's commitment to modernizing administrative frameworks and supporting schools in achieving compliance with national educational standards. Educational institutions are encouraged to act promptly and utilize the available resources to meet the upcoming deadlines effectively.
