Coimbatore District Collector Conducts Inspection of Plus Two Examination Center
District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar carried out a thorough inspection of the Plus Two public examination center at the Corporation Higher Secondary School in Siddhapudur, Coimbatore, on Monday. The visit focused on assessing the preparedness and arrangements for the ongoing Class 12 board examinations across the district.
Examination Statistics and Student Participation
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Collector Giriyappanavar disclosed that a total of 35,712 students are appearing for the Class 12 board examinations in Coimbatore district. The examinations commenced recently and will continue until March 26. Among the candidates, 19,344 are boys and 16,368 are girls, with an additional 852 private candidates also taking the examination.
Across the district, 365 schools have been attached to 130 examination centers to accommodate the large number of students. Specifically, at the inspected Corporation Higher Secondary School, a total of 1,779 students from 17 Corporation Higher Secondary Schools under the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation are appearing for the Higher Secondary Second Year (+2) public examination. This group includes 641 boys and 1,138 girls.
Elaborate Security and Monitoring Measures
The district administration has implemented comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the exams. Key measures include:
- Question Paper Security: Fourteen question paper custodians and armed police personnel have been deployed across seven zonal strong rooms to safeguard the question papers.
- Transportation Routes: As many as 37 transportation routes have been established, with each route supervised by an official and armed police personnel to ensure secure delivery of question papers to the centers.
- Answer Sheet Collection: Answer sheets will be collected and transported to designated collection centers on the same day after the examinations, as confirmed by officials.
To monitor the examinations effectively, the administration has deployed:
- 130 chief superintendents
- 130 departmental officers
- 2,100 invigilators
- 300 static and flying squad officials
Additionally, 343 scribes have been appointed for students requiring assistance, in strict accordance with the guidelines of the Directorate of Government Examinations.
Support Services and Student Morale
Various government departments have collaborated to provide essential support services:
- Transport Department: Arranged special services to facilitate the smooth movement of students to and from the examination centers.
- Local Bodies: Ensured adequate sanitation facilities at all centers.
- Health Department: Kept emergency medical teams on standby for any medical emergencies.
- Electricity Department: Taken steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply on examination days, as emphasized by the Collector.
On the first day of the examination, students were observed arriving at the centers in high spirits, exchanging greetings and wishing each other success, reflecting a positive and motivated atmosphere.
Collector Giriyappanavar reiterated the administration's commitment to conducting the examinations in a transparent and secure manner, ensuring that all students have a fair opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities.
