CTET February 2026 Exam Now Two Days Due to High Demand

CBSE Announces Major Schedule Change for CTET February 2026 Examination

The Central Board of Secondary Education has implemented significant modifications to the examination schedule for the upcoming February 2026 series of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. In response to unprecedented registration numbers, the board has decided to extend the testing period from a single day to two consecutive days to ensure proper logistical arrangements and smooth administration.

Revised Examination Structure and Timeline

Originally scheduled for February 8, 2026, the 21st edition of CTET will now be conducted across February 7 and 8, 2026. This strategic adjustment comes as a direct result of the substantial surge in candidate registrations, which has necessitated enhanced preparation at examination centers nationwide. The board aims to maintain the integrity and efficiency of the testing process through this extended timeframe.

According to the official public notice released by CBSE, the examination will feature two daily sessions accommodating both Paper I and Paper II. The testing will be administered across 140 cities throughout India, with candidates required to carefully review their admit cards for specific date, paper, and timing allocations.

Detailed Examination Schedule

The comprehensive timetable for the rescheduled CTET examination is as follows:

  • February 7, 2026: Paper II (09:30 to 12:00 hours, 2.5 hours duration)
  • February 7, 2026: Paper I (14:30 to 17:00 hours, 2.5 hours duration)
  • February 8, 2026: Paper II (09:30 to 12:00 hours, 2.5 hours duration)
  • February 8, 2026: Paper I (14:30 to 17:00 hours, 2.5 hours duration)

Candidates are strongly advised to arrive at their designated examination centers at least one hour before the scheduled commencement time. The board has emphasized that no late entries will be permitted once the examination has begun, underscoring the importance of punctuality for all participants.

Application Process and Special Considerations

The online application window for the February 2026 CTET examination opened on November 27, 2025, and concluded on December 18, 2025. During this period, an impressive total of 25,30,581 candidates successfully completed their application submissions, reflecting growing interest in teaching careers across the country.

Following the closure of the initial application period, CBSE identified 1,61,127 candidates with incomplete registrations. In a compassionate move, the board provided a one-time facility allowing these candidates to complete their submissions between December 27 and December 30, 2025. This special window was exclusively for rectifying incomplete applications and did not permit new registrations or additional corrections beyond the specified dates.

Understanding CTET's Significance in Indian Education

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test serves as a mandatory qualification examination for aspiring teachers of Classes I to VIII, as mandated by the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. Conducted by CBSE on behalf of the Ministry of Education, CTET establishes standardized benchmarks for teaching competency and professional readiness across India's educational landscape.

This examination plays a crucial role in maintaining quality standards in elementary education while providing aspiring educators with nationally recognized certification. The recent scheduling adjustments demonstrate CBSE's commitment to accommodating growing participation while preserving the examination's rigorous standards and administrative efficiency.
