GSEB SSC and HSC Board Examinations 2026 Kick Off Statewide

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has officially launched the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Class 10 and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Class 12 board examinations for the 2025-26 academic session. The crucial testing period commenced today, on February 26, 2026, marking a significant milestone for thousands of students across the state.

Examination Schedule and Duration Details

The SSC examinations are scheduled to be conducted from February 26, 2026, and will continue until approximately March 16, 2026. Meanwhile, the HSC examinations are set to conclude by March 18, 2026. Both exam series will span several weeks, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of student knowledge and skills.

First-Day Exam Timings and Subject Breakdown

On the inaugural day, SSC students will appear for the First Language paper. This includes a diverse range of languages such as Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, English, Urdu, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Odia. The paper is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM, providing students with a three-hour and fifteen-minute window to complete their responses.

For HSC students, the first day features core subjects tailored to different academic streams. Students from the Science stream will tackle the Physics paper, while those from the General and Commerce streams will write the Sahkar Panchayat paper, as per the official GSEB website. HSC candidates are strongly advised to verify the exact subject and timing details on their individual admit cards to avoid any confusion.

Exam Shift Patterns and Reporting Instructions

According to the official timetable released by the board, SSC exams will be conducted in a single morning shift from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM, exclusively in offline mode. In contrast, HSC exams will be held in the afternoon shift from 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM. Each paper across both levels will have a standard duration of three hours, with an additional fifteen minutes allocated for reading and preparation.

Students are instructed to arrive at their designated examination centres at least 30 to 60 minutes before the official reporting time. This precaution is essential to prevent any last-minute rush and ensure a smooth entry process.

Critical Guidelines for Examination Candidates

Candidates must meticulously review the subject name, exam date, and timing specified on their admit cards before departing from home. Any discrepancies or uncertainties should be clarified with school authorities or the board in advance to avoid complications on exam day.

The GSEB admit card contains vital information, including the student's full name, photograph, registration number, roll number, examination centre address, and a subject-wise schedule. It is mandatory for students to carry the original hall ticket on every exam day, as entry to the examination hall will be strictly prohibited without this document.

Essential Documents and Stationery Requirements

Students must bring their original GSEB admit card for 2026, which should be signed and stamped if required, along with a valid school identification card. Additional necessary items include:

  • Blue or black ballpoint pens, with extras recommended
  • A transparent water bottle
  • A clear or transparent stationery pouch
  • Basic stationery such as pencils, erasers, and sharpeners, if needed for specific papers

Examination Hall Protocols and Student Advisories

Students have been specifically instructed to fill in all details on the OMR sheet with utmost care and accuracy. It is imperative to follow all directives provided by the invigilators inside the examination hall to maintain discipline and integrity.

The board has also issued general advisories, encouraging students to remain calm, manage their time effectively during the paper, and maintain a positive mindset throughout the examination period. Proper preparation and a focused approach are key to navigating this academic challenge successfully.
